Club Roles

Be a special part of our community!

During the 2017 season WJFC was awarded Junior Football Club of the Year in the Claremont District. A strong community is key for us. We pride ourselves on the passion of our families and without community spirit there is no club or junior sport. Simple as that!

It’s time to pass on the baton for some of our committee positions. This is natural for a healthy club to grow and thrive. A great opportunity for you!

With the season ramping up again after the school holidays our team managers and committee members will be on hand to talk to you about this.

In the meantime, here are some reasons to consider joining our great Club and some FAQ.

Joining the WJFC Committee is a great chance to:

  • Pay it forward
  • Give back
  • Meet new friends
  • Take on a role with your friends
  • Strengthen your leadership and creative skills
  • Share your skills and expertise
  • Have some fun – share ideas
  • Think outside the square
  • Contribute to the community spirit of WJFC
  • Support your (and our) boys and girls

Frequently asked questions:

I don’t have the time. I’ve never been on a committee. I don’t know anyone. I don’t want to clog up my emails. Aren’t there lots of long meetings? I’m not an expert at football. What could I contribute anyway?

We understand how busy life can be. We meet once a month during the season. Usually on a Tuesday night at the WJFC Clubroom from 7.30pm-9.00pm at the latest. No waffly meetings here (unless you want to chat on afterwards!).

We’ve set up an online portal where all committee minutes, club diary dates, templates and documents are stored. No more digging around in old personal emails for “how things were done last season” or “where things are stored” or “Who do I contact for ..”
We have designated WJFC email addresses setup for all committee positions so Club-related information is all in one place.
We look to bring in parents from all walks of life – not only footy heads. Diversity of backgrounds, skills, ages and gender are important. We value our volunteers and the perspectives they bring.

Why do you need new Committee members? Is something wrong?

Far from it! Many of our Committee members are now Year 11/12 parents so, like Dr Who, we need to re-generate.
Current committee members are not leaving the state! We will be there to hand over, answer questions and introduce you to the key people.

Don’t worry if you’ve never been on a committee or feel worried that you won’t know anyone. Most committee members start off as newbies to this. Role sharing is completely possible. We welcome parents from all walks of life who are united by community spirit to make our club the best it can be for our boys and girls.

Importantly too – we are all about respect, fun, collaboration AND enjoyment. Some other perks:
  • A free Mooba barista coffee at Wembley Oval each Sunday of the season.
  • WJFC polo jacket, polo shirt and cap.
OK. I’m warming up to this. What positions are coming up?

Please note all positions include a full handover period and ongoing support as you settle in. Auskick positions really need parents who have Auskick kids or a connection to Auskick players. The reason that our current Auskick people are moving on is that their
children are moving into the junior ranks.

Positions needed now for 2023 and beyond:

Who can I contact for more details?

Email our Secretary at secretary@wembleyjuniormagpies.com. She can set up a chat with the right person for you and give you more details.

Can I come to a committee meeting to check it out?

YES!
All we ask is you email our secretary to let her know. Our committee meetings are on Mondays or Tuesdays once a month, 7.30pm at the WJFC Club rooms, Wembley Sports Park during the winter season, and sometimes virtual (Microsoft Teams) during summer for flexibility.

Let’s keep WJFC vibrant, fresh and growing with your help!
